Black Rat Snake

Six and a half feet long, climbs trees, eats small mammals and bird eggs.

Also docile, non-venomous, and endangered, with a gorgeous pearl finish to his flat underbelly.

As he was captive bred for the interpretive center at Murphy’s Point Provincial Park, he was actually kinda cute.

It would have been a lot freakier to have encountered him in the wild, but to know a little more about him helps. Three cheers for education programs!
