Skylight

Last night I was roused from the depths of slumber by a sick child.

In the midst of my sleep-riddled stumble to medicate and comfort, I gazed up at the skylight and froze mid-step, awakened fully by the beauty above me.

The moonlight was glowing on the frost etchings, and a single star was shining through the dark.

The rest of the night was as peaceful as the view.

Blue Green

The juxtaposition of ice and water, hard and soft, light and shadow, blue and green.

I could meditate on this image for hours, if I was into that kinda thing.

Sentry

The view out my back window includes this massive tree, a sentry rising above all others, older than the houses here by a long shot.

I would love to wrap my arms around it, study it, photograph it through the seasons.

But considering it’s in a neighbours backyard, they might think I’m weird.

Cropped

Driving through the Quebec countryside, looking out at the world all brown and dreary as it waits for a fresh, crisp, blanket of white.

Then the sun hits just right, and a golden shimmer appears on the field, highlighting the patterned lines of the broken cornstalks.

The moments are there; you just have to keep your eyes open, and your perspective wide.

Fire

Spent 2 hours driving into the sunset the other night. Pretty awesome way to spend an evening.

*note: first post using a picture from my camera phone, and posting it from my mobile.  Whoa.

At the Quarry 4

You know how sometimes you look up, and feel completely dwarfed by the immensity of the sky? Ya, that.

At the Quarry 3

You know you’re at peace when you have the time and mental space to study the polygons forming in the ice.

At the Quarry 2

Ice bokeh. Unfocused, and otherwise untouched.

Who needs photoshop? Pshaw.

At the quarry 1

An afternoon walk around an old quarry with some new friends.

Hard rock in shadow + backlit delicate grass = interesting study in tension and contrast.

I see a metaphor here waiting to be found…

Marsh Magic 3

The dual sides of cattails – on one hand, they have these furry, messy, bulbous tips, and on the other, their leaves are so delicate and elegant, epitomizing grace.
